Access Denied by Business Data Connectivity in SharePoint

After I creating an External Content Type and External List via SharePoint Designer , I tried to browse the new external list I got the following error:

Access Denied by Business Data Connectivity

Access Denied by BDC.png

Cause:

The current user does not have a sufficient permission to access the related External Content type of this External List.

Solution:

  • Central Administrator -> Application Management -> Manage Service Applications.

Manage service applications

  • Business Data Connectivity Service -> [Your External Content Type] -> Set Permissions.

BCS Set Permission

  • Configure your entity permission by giving the right user the right permission as giving the administrator a full permission (Edit, Execute, selectable in Clients and set permission).

You should be able now to browse the External list properlly.

Enjoy 🙂
