In this article, I shows the available SharePoint upgrade methods to upgrade from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 and How to apply it ?
Generally, there are two method for upgrade :
- an in-place upgrade.
Installation a new SharePoint 2013 version over the earlier SharePoint 2010 version on the same farm is not supported.
- database-attach method.
is the only upgrade method supported to upgrade from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013.
To upgrade from SharePoint 2010 Products to SharePoint 2013 using the database-attach method, you should apply the following sequence stages :
- Upgrade SharePoint 2010 Products databases and service applications.
- Note : The database-attach method is only available for some Application service like :
- Business Data Connectivity.
- Managed Metadata.
- PerformancePoint.
- Secure Store.
- User Profile (Profile, Social, and Sync databases)
- Search administration
- Note : The database-attach method is only available for some Application service like :
Other application services requires to reconfigure again in the new farm.
- Create web applications.
- Install Customization.
- Upgrade Content Database.
