SSRS Error – Maximum request length exceeded

I am working on SSRS with SQL Server 2008  R2, when I tried to upload a report with size higher than 4 Mb to Report Manager Folder,I got the following error
Maximumrequestlenghtexceeded
Cause:

This problem might occur because of the uploaded report is higher than 4 Mb , where The default value of the property MaxRequestLength is 4 Mb.

Solution:

To increase “MaxRequestLength” follow the bit steps below:

  • Go to Web.config of the ReportManager that located in the following path
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\ MSRS10_50.GDESDBCLUSTER01\
Reporting Services\ReportManager

ReportManagerPath

  • Edit Web.config with any appropriate IDE as Visual Studio or Notepad.
  • Search for <httpRuntime tag.
  • Add “maxRequestLength” and set it to appropriate limit (KB) based on your requirements.

maxrequestlength

  • Save & Close.
  • Again, Go to Web.config of the ReportServer that located in the following path:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\ MSRS10_50.GDESDBCLUSTER01\
Reporting Services\ReportServer

ReportServerPath

  • Edit Web.config with any appropriate IDE as Visual Studio or Notepad.
  • Search for <httpRuntime tag.
  • Add “maxRequestLength” and set it to the appropriate limit based on your requirements. In my case, the report size is a 5 Mb.

maxrequestlength

  • Save & Close
  • Restart IIS (Open CMD –> IISRESET).

The report should now been uploaded successfully.

Enjoy 🙂
