In this hint, I will show How to set a task as inactive in Microsoft Project without facing the below issue.
You can’t inactivate a task that’s in progress
I tried to inactivate a task in Microsoft Project Professional. but unfortunately, I got the below error
You can’t inactivate a task that in progress
I tried to set the Task % Complete to 100% to be Completed but unfortunately, it still raises the same issue!
You should be aware of you can only inactivate tasks that have no any progress recorded (%Complete = 0).
- You cannot inactivate completed tasks.
- Eg: %Complete = 100%
- You cannot inactivate tasks that have any progress recorded.
- Eg: %Complete > 0.
The solution is simple, just make sure that the task is neither completed nor in progress by Setting its % Complete to 0 as shown below.
Note: To be able to set a task as inactive you should use Project Professional, The ability to inactivate tasks is not available in Project Standard.
